Smart parasite control for horses in Ireland

Helping horse owners test before they worm

Trusted Advice - Clear Plans - Peace of Mind

More than just a test, we provide simple postal worm testing, expertly analysed and supported with personalised follow-up guidance.

From much-loved companion ponies to high-level performers, effective parasite management plays a vital role in long-term health and performance.

Routine worming without testing can lead to unnecessary treatments and contribute to wormer resistance. Targeted worm testing helps you understand what your horse actually needs and avoid what they don’t.

We provide clear, evidence-based support to help you interpret results and make confident decisions for your horse’s wellbeing. Led by an equine parasite management specialist, our approach is grounded in current research and focused on responsible, targeted strategies.

We recognise how confusing parasite advice can be, which is why our guidance is practical and tailored to each horse and yard.

No unnecessary treatments, no guesswork

Meet the team

Eilisha Dodd (MSc)

Founder and Biomedical Scientist

Eilisha founded Targeted Worming Ireland in 2023 to help improve how deworming is approached across Ireland, combining her love of horses with her background in science. After several years working in industry, she wanted to bring her scientific experience and care into equine health. Alongside her Master’s degree in Biomedical Science, Eilisha has trained with UCD and is certified specifically in faecal egg counting techniques, ensuring best practice and high-quality testing.

Eilisha is very passionate about animal welfare and believes clear, evidence-based advice and one-to-one support make all the difference in keeping horses healthy and owners confident.

She is also committed to educating and empowering owners, promoting clarity and accurate information throughout the worming process. By promoting best practice within the equine community, she aims to improve outcomes and support the wellbeing of more horses.

Routine Testing

Routine testing focuses on ongoing monitoring of your horse using the following tests:

  • Regular faecal egg counts (FECs) also known as worm egg counts using a small dung sample.

  • EquiSal tapeworm testing using a simple saliva swab 1-2 times per year.

Best Starting Point:

If your horse hasn’t been dewormed in the last 4-6 months or there is no worming history, an ideal place to begin is our FEC and Equisal bundle.

Clear instructions, a results report, and post-test consultations are included
